Blaine Harrison is in hospital, meaning this weekend's dates are off...

Mystery Jets have had to cancel some more festival appearances because frontman Blaine Harrison is ill. He's still in hospital getting over a condition related to his Spina Bifida.

Blaine apologised to his fans for the cancellations and explained the problem in a post on the band's MySpace blog. "The reason I am here is due to pressure sores on my feet, which are common among people who suffer from my disability," he wrote. "They come and go. But having pretty much caned it since we stared touring the record at the beginning of March, my body finally gave in on our recent trip to play at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, where I came off stage and felt the most horrendous fever take over my body...

"My immediate feelings were ones of anger and of guilt... but in truth the warning signs have been there for some time, and I would be a fool to ignore them any longer. I am sat in hospital writing this from my bed, which is where I have been for the past 7 days and indeed will probably be for seven or so more. The food is rotten and my neighboring inpatient frequently soils his sheets, but I guess things could be worse.

"At this point in time it is impossible to say when we will be back on full fighting form, but I'd say Reading and Leeds are definitely as good a goal as any."

It means the band aren't going to be playing the Underage Festival and Field Day in London on Friday and Saturday... or the Summer Sundae festival in Leicester on Sunday.
