No UFOs For Muse At V

Matt Bellamy's plan for a major Spinal Tap moment this weekend has been scuppered.

Health and safety spoilsports have stopped Muse from bringing a huge UFO to the V Festival this weekend. The band, who headline Chelmsford on Saturday and Staffordshire on Sunday told Xfm earlier this year that they planned something special. "We’re gonna try and do something quite spectacular – we'll try and get a UFO to come in and land on everyone's heads or something," Matt Bellamy told us in February. "We’ll definitely do something of a Spinal Tap embarrassment level.”

However, the health and safety officers at both Chemsford and Staffordshire sites have given a resounding no to the UFO.

"Health and Safety as usual are ruining it all," Bellamy grumbled to The Daily Star. "I'm not sure V are quite prepared for us.

"We've redesigned the whole stage and we're bringing in loads of props that won't be on stage but around the venue."

The singer also claimed that the band wouldn't be performing any new songs during their festival set. "We've written a lot of new songs but we’ve bottled out of playing them live because, from past experience, we've ended up hating some of our favourites by the time we recorded them."
