The Sun Will Smile On Glasto. Or Maybe Not
Glastonbury Festival are busy making provisions to combat the dust that's likely to be created thanks to an expected hot weekend. Unfortunately, it's not a view shared by the Met Office.
Organisers of the Glastonbury Festival are "quietly confident" that this year's event will be a hot one. This will come as good news to the Glasto veterans who successfully completed the '05 and '07 tours of duty and still start to quietly weep when '97 and '98 are mentioned.
Apparantly, an abundance of oak leaves at Worthy Farm signifies that hot weather is on the way. So much so that a number of contingency measures are being put into place. These include hosepipes, extra ice cream vans, suncream and dermotologists as well as a fleet of bowser tanks that will pump water into the fields eery hour to prevent the site turning into a dustbowl.
Not so, say the Met Office. Speaking to The Guardian, the weather forecasters have told festival goers that rainfall "more likely to be either near, or above average" for the time of year.
So there you have. Plenty of suncream, summer hats and water proofs to make sure that all bases are covered.
