The Verve Deny V Festival Cancellation
Nick McCabe hasn't been "hospitalised", according to rumours...
The Verve have denied that they are to pull out of this weekend's V Festival. According to a story on gossip site Holy Moly, guitarist Nick McCabe had been taken to hospital for "exhaustion", following a tumultuous show at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan last weekend.
According to the story, eyewitnesses at the show claimed Richard Ashcroft smashed a guitar in frustration at the end of 'Lucky Man', causing McCabe to respond by playing "a right old racket" throughout the next song, 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'. McCabe then reportedly spent the night in hospital and flew back to the UK on his own.
However, the band's management told the NME today, "Contrary to rumours, Nick McCabe cut his finger on a piece of glass in the dressing room after the gig. He was treated by medics at the scene and then flew home. He's fine, except for a sore finger and that won't affect their appearance at V at the weekend."
