La Roux University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich

An electro-pop duo from Brixton consisting of singer Elly Jackson and synth-playing co-producer Ben Langmaid. Inspired by 80s synthpop acts such as Depeche Mode and The Human League, La Roux formed in 2008 and by May 2009 had burst into the mainstream with their hit single 'In For the Kill'. After a support slot on Lily Allen's UK tour, festival appearances, and North American dates, La Roux polished off a successful year with a Mercury nomination and a UK headlining tour.
